The league no longer utilizes divisions in women's soccer

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University soccer team was predicted to finish seventh in the Mid-American Conference in the league's coaches poll, the conference office announced Wednesday, Aug. 15. 

Kent State was tabbed the preseason favorite for both the regular season and tournament championship. The Golden Flashes' 134 points and eight first-place votes put them atop the poll, followed by Ball State and Bowling Green. Buffalo, Central Michigan, and Toledo were slotted fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, while Ohio, Western Michigan, Akron, Northern Illinois, and Miami rounded out the standings behind seventh-ranked EMU. In addition to Kent State, BGSU garnered two first-place votes and Ball State and Akron earned one apiece.

On the tournament side, seven teams received votes led by KSU with six. Buffalo, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Toledo, and Western Michigan also received one each.

Eastern Michigan opens the season under the lights at Purdue University Friday, Aug. 17. The match between the Eagles and Boilermakers is slated for 7 p.m. in West Lafayette.
