Men’s Golf In Arizona For Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team ramps back up stroke-play competition this weekend, Feb. 25-26, heading out to Palm Valley Golf Club in Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate. Action on the par-72, 7,015-yard championship course runs Sunday-Monday, with tee times beginning each day at 7:45 a.m. MT (9:45 a.m. ET). Fans can follow along with live scoring on Golfstat.com.
In addition to the Eagles and host team Loyola (Md.), the 19-team event will include squads from Air Force, Army West Point, Charleston, Connecticut, DePaul, Drake, Gonzaga, Hartford, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, Siena, SIU-Edwardsville, St. John's, Towson, UT-Martin, and Xavier.
On the opening day, EMU will be paired with UConn and Missouri State.
Last year at the tournament, Kyle Rodes powered the Eagles to a second-place team finish. Rodes finished atop the podium, carding a three-round 13-under par to total a 203 (69-64-70), breaking the program record of 206, accomplished by Korey Mahoney in 2005. As a team, EMU finished second after Connecticut jumped into first after finishing with a 30-under par total of 834. Eastern finished the tournament at 23-under par 841 (275-277-289), marking the second time this season that the Green and White have finished runner-up. That mark also shattered the team's three round record of 850, set at the EKU Intercollegiate, Sept. 17-18, 2017.
