YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team returns home for a midweek matinee against the University of Illinois-Chicago Tuesday, Nov. 27. Tipoff between EMU and UIC is set for 11 a.m. inside the Convocation Center.
Eastern Michigan (2-1) looks to bounce back after a tough, 85-59, loss to Preseason WNIT Champion Iowa State University, Nov. 21. Illinois Chicago (1-3) comes to Ypsilanti with hopes of snapping a three-game losing skid. Most recently, UIC was overpowered at No. 22 Marquette University, 96-32, Nov. 24.
Fans unable to attend the game can catch the action on ESPN+ with veteran broadcaster Greg Steiner calling the play-by-play and Katie Gonzales serving as the analyst.

YONNIE OR LAUREL? WE SAY YONNIE!: Redshirt sophomore Corrione Cardwell continued her strong start to the season with a career night against Iowa State in Canada, Nov. 21. Cardwell more than doubled her season point total with a career-high 25 points against the Cyclones. Knocking down a career-best 11 field goals, including the second and third three-pointers of her career, Cardwell also filled up the box score with seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

TURNING 'EM OVER: Not only was Eastern the first team this season to win the turnover battle against Iowa State, Nov. 21, but the Eagles also forced the Cyclones into a season-high 22 turnovers. Furthermore, ISU's 22 miscues were its most since Iowa State committed 22 turnovers in its 2017-18 season opener against South Dakota, Nov. 10, 2017. It also marked just the fourth time ISU has registered 20-or-more turnovers in its past 36 games.

HELPING HAND: Freshman Jenna Annecchiarico has shown why she came in as such a highly touted recruit through her first few games as an Eagle. In fact, Annecchiarico has embraced the role of floor general to the tune of 4.0 assists per game. Moreover, the Baldwin, N.Y. native has turned the ball over just three times making her top point guards in the conference. Annecchiarico leads the conference, while ranking 16th nationally, with a 4.0 assist to turnover ratio.

FACING THE FLAMES: Eastern Michigan and Illinois-Chicago have met 12 times ahead of Tuesday's tilt. EMU leads the all-time series, 8-4, but UIC has won the previous two meetings.
Most recently, UIC erased EMU's 15-point third-quarter lead to stun the Eagles, 73-70, inside UIC Pavilion, Dec. 8, 2017. Four players scored nine-or-more points for the Eagles, led by Sasha Dailey's game-high 18. Micah Robinson also finished in double figures, chipping in 14 points, while Autumn Hudson nearly had a double-double with a seven-point, eight rebound night.

LOOKING FOR REVENGE: The last time EMU and UIC clashed inside the Convocation Center came during the 2014 Women's Basketball Invitational. Then, the fourth-seeded Flames ended the top-seeded Eagles' season with a 93-91 loss in the second round of the tournament, March 24. Three players scored 20+ points for the Green and White, but UIC hit a layup with eight seconds left to upset EMU. The Flames went on to win the WBI with wins over Fairfield and Stephen F. Austin.
Eastern's last win over Illinois-Chicago was a 74-54 drubbing inside the Convocation Center, Dec. 23, 2010. Cassie Schrock paved the way for the Eagles with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Tavelyn James and Paige Redditt added 14 and 11 points, respectively.

WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER: The 100th win in Eastern Michigan history came against Illinois-Chicago. Then-head coach Kathy Hart led the Eagles to a 65-62 triumph against the Flames in the Windy City, Dec. 17, 1983.

AGAINST THE HORIZON: EMU owns a 54-43 record against current Horizon League foes. Home to UIC and nine other institutions, the Eagles have battled all but one of the members of the Indianapolis, Ind.-based conference.
Given the proximity, it comes as no surprise that EMU has squared off against Detroit Mercy more than any other Horizon League opponent, with 27 meetings taking place between the two all-time. While Eastern trails in the all-time series, 15-12, against Detroit Mercy, EMU holds the upperhand versus Cleveland State (12-5), Illinois-Chicago (8-4), Valparaiso (5-3), Wright State (6-0), and Youngstown State (4-2). The Green and White sit level with Oakland (7-7) and Milwaukee (2-2) all-time, and are winless in the all-time series against Green Bay (0-5).

UP NEXT: Eastern Michigan hits the road for its first true road game this weekend, as the Green and White travels to Champaign, Ill. for a clash with the University of Illinois. Tipoff between the Eagles and Illini is set for 2 p.m. CT inside the State Farm Center.
