This is the third championship meet the two have competed in
MADISON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University cross country redshirt senior Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) and senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community) compete in the NCAA National Championship Saturday, Nov. 17 in Madison, Wis.
This will be the third time the co-captains have competed in the national meet, with both taking part in the NCAA Championship race the last two seasons. Additionally, with the two heading to Madison, it marks just the 11th time, and fifth in the last six seasons, EMU has had representatives at the title race. Furthermore, Meyers and Cizmas become the first Eagles to appear in three NCAA Championships in their career.
If the two claim a top-40 finish, they will become the third and fourth NCAA All-Americans in program history, joining Donna Donakowski (28th-1987) and Jordann McDermitt (24th-2016).
The Eagles have already obtained experience competing in Madison this year, having participated in the Pre-Nationals, Oct. 13. There, Cizmas and Meyers paced EMU with 20th and 21st-place finishes, respectively, ultimately leading the Green and White to a sixth-place team finish.
The women's 6k on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course is slated to begin at 11:45 ET. Fans can follow along via live results by clicking here, or by following the link located on the schedule page of EMUEagles.com.
