Women’s Golf Travels to The Preview at Purgatory Golf Club

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will get an early look at the site of next spring's Mid-American Conference Championships when the Eagles travel to the 2018 Preview, Oct. 14-15, in Noblesville, Ind.

This year's three-round event will feature 54 holes on a par-72, 6,125-yard layout at Purgatory Golf Club. The tournament will begin Sunday at 9  a.m. It will be a shotgun start on Oct. 14 followed immediately by a second round. Monday's final round will also be a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Results will be available at Golfstat.com as well as at the conclusion of each day at EMUEagles.com.

The 13-team field includes nine MAC schools: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan. Belmont, Cleveland State, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Xavier will also be competing at the event.

All eight Eagles are scheduled to compete for the Green and White. Playing as a team will be freshman Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School), senior Penelope Guilleux  (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International),  junior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford), and freshman Abby Livingston (Novi, Mich.-Novi). Playing as individuals will be and senior Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School), junior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa) and junior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne).

The tournament is being held for the first time since 2015. That year, Toledo captured the team title with a 897 (302-297-298) to finish 10-strokes ahead of host EMU (299-299-309=907) and Western Michigan also at Purgatory Golf Club.

Guilleux is the only Eagle to have previously played the course, posting a pair of top-20 showings. Then a freshman, she was 15th at the 2016 MAC Championships with a 225 (76-79-70), after finishing tied for 19th at the 2015 Preview with a  230 (78-70-82).
