The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team wraps up its season this week at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 7-10, in Eugene, Ore. Redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio - Maumee) will be the lone Eagle present, and will cap off his outstanding career donning the Green and White against the nation's top 3000m steeplechase competition.

Last season, the NCAA Outdoor Championships featured a pair of EMU student-athletes. Fink was one of them, as the Maumee, Ohio native qualified in the 3000m steeplechase. In the semifinals, he clocked in at 8:52.43 to finish 19th in the country, falling short of making the finals. Joining Fink at the meet was Solomon Simmons, who took part in the decathlon. Simmons had a fantastic performance at the meet, ultimately finishing sixth in the decathlon with a program-record 7936 points. Based on his finish, the current EMU assistant coach earned First Team All-American honors.

Fink has had a storied career with the Green and White, as this is his third time heading to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He qualified last year in the 3000m steeplechase, in addition to also making it in the 5000m in 2015. Not only has he found success during the outdoor season, but he also earned Second Team All-American honors at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships when he nabbed 11th in the 3000m.

Currently, the Maumee, Ohio native holds the No. 2 spot in the 3000m and the No. 3 spot in the 5000m in the EMU record books for the indoor season. Additionally, he also sits at No. 3 in the 5000m and No. 5 in the 3000m steeplechase and the 10000m for the outdoor season.

The 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships can be followed from home in a multitude of ways. For a complete list of all of the broadcast options available, please click here. Additionally, live results are available as well, and can be found here.

Fink will begin the meet on Wednesday, June 7, with the 3000m steeplechase semifinals at 5:02 p.m. Pacific Time. Should he qualify into the finals, that would take place two days later, Friday, June 9, at 5:54 p.m. Pacific Time.
