EUGENE, ORE. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team's 2017 outdoor season came to a close today, June 7, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Eagles wrapped up the season in the semifinals of the 3000m steeplechase with redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio – Maumee), who earned Second Team All-American honors.

Fink took part in the second heat of the event. The Maumee, Ohio native clocked in at 8:52.45 to finish eighth in his very tough heat, which featured the top-seven finishers, putting him 16th overall, and falling four spots shorts of qualifying into Friday's finals. Specifically, Fink was just nine seconds out of securing a qualifying berth in the 12th-place spot. Based on his finish, Fink earned Second Team All-American honors, marking the second time in his career he has received the accolade.

This concludes both the Eagles' season, as well as Fink's career donning the Green and White. The redshirt senior had an outstanding career with Eastern, as he qualified to the NCAA Outdoor Championships three times, while also being named a Second Team All-American at the 2016 Indoor NCAA Championships. Additionally, he also holds a total of five spots in the top-five of the EMU record books.
