EMU shaved five strokes off its day two total to sit in a tie for 12th-place

AUGUSTA, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team improved by five strokes on the second day of the 3M Augusta Invitational to post a 306 on the par 72, 6,248-yard Forest Hills Golf Club course. The Eagles (311-306=617) are tied for 12th with Virginia Tech in the star-studded field, which features a trio of top 50 ranked teams.
Junior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) finished Saturday's round with a 73 in 20th-place with a 148 (75-73). Senior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for 35th with a 152 (74-78), as Augusta's Jessica Haigwood sits atop the leaderboard with a seven-under 137 (71-66).
Freshman Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) managed a 78 for a 36-hole tally of 154 (76-78) in 45th. Rounding out the scoring for EMU were sophomores Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) and Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) who are in 75th and 77th place, respectively.
EMU wraps up play Sunday, March 19, with tee time beginning at 9 a.m.
