AUGUSTA, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team continues its spring campaign Friday, March 17, at the 3M Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Ga. The event is slated for three rounds of golf across three days on the par 72, 6,248-yard Forest Hills Golf Club course.
The 14-team field contains three programs currently ranking in the top 50 in the Golfstat rankings. Purdue leads the pack, coming in at No. 23, while Tennessee ranks just behind them at 33rd. No. 45 Augusta, No. 61 Virginia Tech, and No. 65 Coastal Carolina will also be competing at the event.
Traveling for the Eagles will be the familiar faces of Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth), Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne), and Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School).
Round one begins on Friday, March 17, with tee times going off holes one and 10 from 9:30-11:50 a.m. Round two on Saturday is the same format as the first round while round three on Sunday will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
At last year's event, Augusta the 11th annual event, besting the 16-team field at three-under par to win by 10 strokes. EMU finished 14th as a team, while Murphy shot a team-best 216 (70-71-75) for ninth-place.
