YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — With the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships on the horizon, the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will compete at the Michigan First Chance Meet this weekend, Feb. 18-19, as a pre-championship tune up.
The Eagles make the short jaunt into Ann Arbor after a strong showing at the Ohio State Winter Invitational, Feb. 11-12. There, the Green and White posted more than 20 career-bests, and came away with 10 top-10 finishes. Freshman Benjamin Ryan (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) paced EMU, posting two top-10 marks on the weekend. In the 500 Freestyle, Ryan claimed ninth with a career-best time of 4:36.99. He then led the way for the Eagles in the 1650 Free, clocking in with the fastest time by an Eagle this season and a fifth-place finish.
Eyeing its third consecutive MAC Championship, Eastern Michigan will utilize the Michigan First Chance Meet as an opportunity to fine-tune its lineup before the conference meet in Carbondale, Ill., March 4-5.
Action from Canham Natatorium will begin with a preliminary session Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. The finals session will take place at 5 p.m., while action will resume on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. Live results can be found here.
