Eastern Prepares for In-State Rival Oakland

The Eagles own a 7-4-1 dual record over the Golden Grizzlies
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Coming off an exciting win over defending Mid-American Conference champions, the University of Akron, last weekend, the Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team welcomes in-state foe Oakland University, to Jones Natatorium Saturday, Nov. 11.
Saturday's tilt marks the 13th time the two squads have faced each other since the 2005-06 campaign, with the Green and White owning a 7-4-1 record against the Golden Grizzlies. Historically, the series has been in favor of the Eagles as of late, posting a 4-0-1 mark against OU not dropping a meet since Nov. 12, 2011. Most recently, a four event sweep and domination on the springboard lifted EMU to a 193-104 victory over Oakland. Nine different Eagles touched in with a first-place times in the pool, while then-junior Alli Shereda (Fraser, Mich.-Fraser) swept the diving events with finals scores of 288.07 and 293.25 on the 1 and 3-meter, respectively.
The Eagles return to the pool following an exciting win last Saturday, Nov. 4, over the Zips after a first and third-place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay secured the 162-138 victory. Junior Nicole Swartz (Dayton Ohio, Centerville) and sophomore Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) paced the Eagles with two individual event wins each while junior Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg), sophomore Brielle Johnston (Ottawa, Ontario-Cathorlique Franco-Quest), and Shereda all picked up a win as well.
