EIGHT-IN-A-ROW: The Eagles got the season started on the right foot, Nov. 10, cruising to an 83-61 win over the Rattlers of Florida A&M University. It marked the eighth consecutive season in which the Green and White opened the season with a win.
AGAINST NON-DI'S: Monday night's showdown with the Warriors marks the second regular season meeting between EMU and Rochester. The Green and White are 23-2 all-time against non-NCAA Division I foes with the last meeting coming against Ferris State, Nov. 16, 2016. That afternoon, the Eagles rolled to a 68-50 victory.
VERSUS ROCHESTER ALL-TIME: EMU and Rochester have met just one time previously, with the Eagles leading the all-time ledger by a 1-0 tally.
In the lone meeting between the two squads, the Eagles overpowered the Warriors 108-24, Dec. 9, 2009. Tavelyn James scored a game-high 39 points to lead EMU in the victory.
BELTON CONNECTION: Courtnie Lewis is not the first Kansas City area native to land in Ypsilanti. In fact, Lewis and former EMU standout Paige Redditt both graduated from Belton High School. Redditt, a 6-foot-1 forward for the Eagles from 2008-12, averaged 6.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game during her time donning the Green and White. Currently, she ranks tied for ninth all-time with 13 double-doubles.
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT: EMU's 22-point margin of victory against Florida A&M was its largest since Eastern Michigan downed Northern Illinois, 84-60, Feb. 20, 2016.
POURING IT ON: The Green and White had no shortage of offense Friday, Nov. 10, toppling Florida A&M 83-60. It marked just the third time in the Fred Castro era that the Eagles have eclipsed the 80-point mark, while it was the most points EMU has scored since Feb. 20, 2016 when Eastern put up 84 points against Northern Illinois.
SWIPER KEEPS SWIPING: The Eagles racked up 14 steals against the Rattlers to begin the season, with senior Sasha Dailey leading the way with five swipes. Dailey's five thefts were the most by an Eagle since the Toledo, Ohio native registered five steals against Ferris State, Nov. 16, 2016.
NEW FACES MAKE INSTANT IMPACT: Eight players made their EMU debuts in Eastern Michigan's season-opening win over Florida A&M, Nov. 10. The newest Eagles combined for 55 points, or 66.3 percent of EMU's scoring for the contest. Courtnie Lewis and Lorraine Enabulele were the only Eagles to reach double figures, as Lewis poured in a team-high 18 points, while Enabulele added 10.
GETTING OFF THE SCHNIDE: Eastern Michigan's 83-61 triumph to open the season put the Eagles in the win column for the first time since Jan. 25, 2017, snapping an 11-game losing streak.
HISTORIC CROWN ON HAND: A whopping 4,767 people were on hand for Eastern Michigan's season-opening win, the second-largest home crowd in EMU history. The record crowd came back in EMU's clash with Western Michigan Feb. 12, 2005, when 5,423 fans moved through the turnstiles.
MAKING THE MOST OF THEIR MINUTES: A total of 13 Eagles garnered minutes in EMU's season opener, with the eight players coming off the bench combining for 44 points. Freshman Courtnie Lewis led the way with a team-high 18 points, while Corrione Cardwell and Micah Robinson added nine apiece. Esabelle Levine and RayJon Harris chipped in six points each, while Autumn Hudson scored five points.
DIAPER DANDIES: Freshman Eagles certainly made a statement on the hardwood in the season-opening win over FAMU, accounting for 38 of the Green and White's 83 points. Courtnie Lewis led the way with a team-high 18 points, while Corrione Cardwell added nine points and a team-high eight rebounds. Rounding out the freshmen scoring, RayJon Harris and Autumn Hudson contributed six and five points, respectively.
CLASS IS IN SESSION: EMU welcomed over 4,700 students for the annual Education Day Friday, Nov. 10, in conjunction with the Eagles' game against Florida A&M. The goal was to get area children excited about college at an early age and give children an engaging, positive atmosphere to reinforce the learning going on at their school.
LEWIS' DEBUT: Freshman Courtnie Lewis made her name known in Eastern Michigan's season opener. The Belton, Mo. native scored a team-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including two triples, in her EMU debut. Lewis stuffed the stat sheet, adding in four rebounds and three assists in just 15 minutes of action.
Lewis' 18 points were the most in an Eagle debut since Sasha Dailey scored 31 against Kent State-Tuscarawas, Nov. 14, 2014.
HOT-SHOOTING: The Green and White knocked down 31-of-62 shots from the floor in a season-opening throttling of Florida A&M, Nov. 10, including 14-of-22 attempts in the third quarter. EMU's 50.0 field goal percentage was its best under Fred Castro and the highest shooting percentage by the Eagles in a game since topping Detroit Mercy 85-68, Dec. 30, 2015.
SHARING THE SUGAR: Eastern Michigan was anything but selfish in its 83-61 victory over Florida A&M, Nov. 10, dishing out 21 assists on 31 made baskets. EMU's 21 dimes were the most since the Eagles tallied 21 in a 104-45 win against Madonna, Dec. 18, 2015. Additionally, it was Eastern's most assists against a Division I opponent since March 12, 2015 when the Green and White recorded 21 in a Mid-American Conference Tournament game versus Akron.
WORKING TOWARDS THE 1000-POINT CLUB: Senior Sasha Dailey stands 146 points short of the 1,000-point mark in her final season donning the Green and White. Dailey amassed 855 points for her career through her first three seasons, and has scored nine points so far this year. If Dailey eclipses four-digits, she will become the 22nd player in program history to score at least 1,000 points during their career.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: Eastern Michigan has won 77 of the last 107 home games dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Eagles have racked up a solid home-court advantage inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center since the doors opened during the 1998-99 campaign. The Green and White has won 66.0 percent of the contests played in the building, piling up a 171-88 all-time mark.
TEAM IMPACT: Eastern Michigan added Alyssa Suisham to the roster before the start of the 2017-18 season through Team Impact, a non-profit organization which aims to improve the quality of life of children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses through sport. Suisham, a native of Royal Oak, Mich., was diagnosed with hypotonic cerebral palsy at nine months old, and began to experience seizures at the age of two. An annual participant in the Special Olympics competing in track and field, Suisham will join the Eagles for games, practices, and other events throughout the year.

Additionally the Eagles are the least experienced team in the West Division. Ohio brings back just 3,877 minutes, the fewest in the league, while Akron returns 4,964. Meanwhile, Miami is the most experienced squad in the league with 13,782 career minutes on the roster.
STANDING TALL: Measuring in at 6-foot-5, freshman Autumn Hudson joins Colleen Russell (2004-08) as the tallest Eagle in program history. A four-year letterwinner, Hudson eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in high school. She was also named first team all-league, second team all-district, and All-Ohio Honorable Mention.
O'CANADA: Lorraine Enabulele is the first Canadian to sport the Green and Whites since the 2007-08 season when Colleen Russell played for the Eagles. A transfer from Kansas, Enabulele has two seasons of eligibility remaining after transfering from Kansas prior to the 2016-17 campaign.
ON THE HORIZON: Eastern Michigan opens the longest roadtrip of the NCAA Division I women's basketball season Thursday, Nov. 16, when it travels to Cleveland, Ohio for a 7 p.m. clash with Cleveland State University.
