Women's Golf Completes Opening Day of Pat Bradley Invite

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team resides in 15th place after the opening day of play Sunday, Oct. 22, at the 40th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational on par 72, 6,287 yard Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
The Green and White shot a 322 and are nine shots behind Florida Atlantic University (313) heading into the final day Monday, Oct. 23. Previously scheduled for three, 18-hole days, the tournament committee got together and looked at the forecast and decided to play 36 on Monday after the 18-hole Sunday opening round.
Boston College leads the field at 294, while South Florida is second at 295.
Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), sophomore Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford), and classmate Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa) are all tied with an eight-over 80. Junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) is in 69th-place with an 82 followed by freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) with an 83 in 72nd.
The Invitational, named for golfing legend and FIU's first All-American, is one of the longest-running collegiate golf events. Starting in 1977 at Hollywood Lakes Inn and Country Club, the event has been contested at 12 different venues before moving to Lakewood Ranch in 2012. The Invitational was not contested in 1992 due to the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in South Florida.
Action resumes Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
