KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team continues its 2016 fall schedule with the Firestone Invitational, Oct. 3-4, at the Firestone Country Club-North Course.
The 14-team tournament includes: Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgetown, Illinois State, Marshall, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina-Aiken, Western Kentucky, and Xavier.
The course will be set up as a par 72, playing a distance of 7,125 yards. It will consist of 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 3, and 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 4. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on both days, with the second round played immediately following the conclusion of the first round on Monday.
Eastern competed in the event last year as Brett White enjoyed the best performance of his career, finishing at five-under par 211 (71-74-66). As a team, the Eagles shot a final round 289 to finish with a 876 (295-292-289) in 10th-place. Maryland (284-285-287=856) edged out host Akron (290-283-285=858) by two strokes for the team title, while the Terrapins' David Kocher captured medalist honors with a score of nine-under par 207 (68-68-71).
