WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team resides in 13th place after the opening day of play on Monday, March 28, at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at The River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
The Green & White shot a 633 (318-315) and is just one shot behind Wagner (309-323=632) heading into the final around Tuesday, March 29. The University of Toledo currently leads the field at 600 (304-296) while Boston University is second at 605 (304-301.
Sophomore Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) is currently in a six-way tie for 23rd-place after firing a 154 (76-78). She currently stands 11 shots back of William & Mary's Alessandra Liu, who leads the field after posting a one-under 143 (72-71) on the first day.
Junior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for 37th place after carding a 156 (81-75). Senior Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) managed a 161 (81-80) while classmate Lauren Stephens (Dublin, Ohio-Coffman-Toledo) and freshman Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) are tied for 75th with a 165.
Second-round action at will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
