LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in fifth-place after two rounds of the Little Rock/First Tee Classic on the par 72, 7,326-yard Bear Den Course at Chenal Country Club.
The Eagles shot a 601 (299-302) and trails Lipscomb by 12 strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Central Arkansas is second (595), followed by UT-Martin (596), Little Rock (598), EMU, Arkansas State (602), Stephen F. Austin (604), Abilene Christian and ULM (607). Rounding out the field were Southern Miss (609), Louisiana Tech (611), Xavier (613), Omaha (614), Oral Roberts (615) and Tulsa (625).
Freshman Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) keyed the EMU charge with a 149 (74-75) in a tie for 13th while senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) and Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) are tied for 22nd with identical rounds of 75s for a 150 (75-75). Junior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) managed a 152 (75-77) followed by junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) with a 157 (78-79).
Also, taking part in the tournament as an individual, redshirt sophomore Nick Park (Howell, Mich.-Howell-Oakland) is in 41st after an opening day total of 153 (78-75).
The final round is a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT The Eagles, paired with host Little Rock and Arkansas State, open on holes 4-7.
