LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Little Rock/First Tee Classic Tuesday, Sept. 29, finishing in ninth place with a 52-over 916 (299-302-315) The Green and White finished the opening day of the tournament in fifth but followed it up with a 315 during the final round on the par 72, 7,326-yard Bear Den Course at Chenal Country Club.
Senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) finished the tournament with a 74 for a 10th place tie at eight-over 224 (75-75-74). The top 10 showing was the fifth of White's career in 35 career events. Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) followed in a tie for 22nd with a 228 (75-75-78) while Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) came in 30th with a 229 (74-75-80). Junior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) recorded a 237 (75-77-85) and junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) took 69th with a 240 (78-79-83).
Taking part in the tournament as an individual, redshirt sophomore Nick Park (Howell, Mich.-Howell-Oakland) posted the best showing of his EMU career with a 230 (78-75-77).
Lipscomb ran away with the tournament title, shooting 884. UT-Martin was next at 898, followed by Little Rock (901), UCA (905), Stephen F. Austin (907), Xavier (910), Arkansas State (911), Abilene Christian (913), Eastern Michigan (916), ULM (917), Louisiana Tech (925), Southern Miss (926), Oral Roberts (927), Omaha (941) and Tulsa (943).
EMU returns to the course April 9-10 at the Robert Kepler Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University.
