RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior women's golfer Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) carded a second round 72 to move up four spots into seventh-place heading into the final round of the Rio Verde Invitational at the par 72, 6,215-yard White Wing Golf Course, Feb. 27. Lee Ping opened the tournament with a 74 and has an overall tally of even-par 146 in the field of 96 golfers.
As a team, the Eagles are in a tie with Bradley University for fifth-place with a team day total of 600 (300-300). The University of Toledo continued to lead the tournament at 592 (298-294) while Wichita State is in second at 594 (300-294). Xavier's Hanna Lee fired a second round 70 to remain atop of the individual leader board with a three-under 141 (71-70).
Junior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for 16th-place with a 149 (73-76), while sophomore Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) resides in a tie for 27th-place with a 151 (76-75). Senior Lauren Stephens (Dublin, Ohio-Coffman-Toledo) is tied for 53rd with a 155 (77-78). Freshman Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) rounded out the lineup with a 159 (82-77) in 76th-place.
