The Eagles (7-5) got off to a slow start, but the offense erupted through the final 30 minutes of play to secure the win over the Mustangs (3-13).
Offensively, EMU shot 38-of-82 (46.3 percent) throughout the game, including converting nine threes. The Eagles finished with a whopping total of 60 rebounds, which was the third-most all-time in a single game at Eastern Michigan. Additionally, Eastern forced 21 turnovers and notched 15 steals on the day, marking the ninth game of the season with 10 or more takeaways. Finally, EMU dominated in the paint by a 58-28 margin.
Senior Ray Lee (Detroit, Mich. – Romulus) paced the EMU attack, scoring 25 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including a trio of three-pointers. Joining Lee with 20 or more points was senior Willie Mangum IV (Richmond, Va. – Marshall (San Jacinto College)), posting 24 points, including four triples. Two more Eagles also finished in double digits, as junior Tim Bond (Baltimore, Md. – City College High School) kicked in 16 points, five rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks, while redshirt senior Quaran Jones (Fargo, N.D. – Ecorse (Findlay)) notched the first double-double of his career with 13 points and 13 boards.
Both teams got off to a slow start in the first half, as the score stood at eight apiece after nearly seven minutes of play. Marygrove took the lead, 10-8, but EMU tied it up on a layup from Lee, and didn't look back from there. Eastern scored nine unanswered, capped off by Mangum IV free throws, before the Mustangs scored another basket to make it 19-12.
With the offense now in rhythm, the Eagles scored a whopping 31 points over the final ten minutes of the half. The run continued with back-to-back baskets from Bond and redshirt junior Nick Madray (Mississauga, Ontario – Stephen Lewis (Binghamton)), which was then followed by a three from Mangum IV. A strong alley-oop by Bond kept things rolling, and with 6:10 left in the half, Eastern held a commanding 28-14 lead.
The final five minutes of the first half saw redshirt sophomore Blake Brown (Novi, Mich. – Novi (UNLV)) get on the board with a nice tip-in, along with another layup from Lee. Mangum IV drilled another three to extend the lead to 35-17. Lee following suit with yet another layup. The half came to an end with Lee sinking his second three of the game with just four seconds on the clock, and at the break, EMU led the Mustangs, 44-22.
The second half began with Bond sinking a three, followed by a Jones layup. The offensive onslaught continued, as the EMU lead ballooned to 31, 63-32, with a Lee layup at the 15:11 mark. Bond then threw down another alley-oop to keep the momentum rolling.

Shortly after, Mangum IV dropped another long ball, followed by a pair from the charity stripe.
Over the final few minutes of play, Nobles sunk two free throws, while Jones converted a tough tip-in basket. An emphatic dunk from Madray capped off the game, and when the clock struck zero, EMU finished with a 101-48 victory.
The Eagles will now have a week long break, as their next game takes place Thursday, Dec. 29, against Long Beach State at home. Action from the Convocation Center is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
