YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Less than a week ahead of its 2016-17 season opener, the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team will host Lawrence Technological University in exhibition action. The team's lone exhibition contest is set to tipoff at 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center Monday, Nov. 7. Admission is free and open to the public.
First-year head coach Fred Castro's squad returns five letterwinners from a team that advanced to the second round the 2016 Postseason WNIT. The Eagles will look to seniors Phillis Webb (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Osseo) and Sheyna Deans (Mt. Clemens, Mich.-Mt. Clemens-St. Clair C.C.) to help seven newcomers into the mix after posting a 22-12 overall record, including a 10-8 mark in conference play last season.
The Eagles and Blue Devils are meeting for second time, and first since the 2013-14 campaign when EMU topped Lawrence Tech, 95-62, at home on New Year's Eve. Three players reached double figures as the Green and White dominated the paint, outscoring the Blue Devils, 46-16, in the lane. Meanwhile, the Eagles turned 26 Blue Devil miscues into a 33-15 advantage in points off turnovers.
The game will not be streamed but live stats will be available at EMUEagles.com/livestats, or by clicking here.
