EMU Looks to Continue Strong Start at Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan women's golf team heads to Toledo, Ohio, to compete in the Rocket Classic, Oct. 10-11. Competition will take place on at the Catawba Island Club, a par 72 course with a total distance of 5,884 yards. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Both rounds will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
The tournament will host 14 teams, including: Ball State, Bradley, Bucknell, Central Michigan, Detroit, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State, Loyola (IL), Toledo, and Western Michigan.
Head Coach Pina Gentile will take the whole squad to Toledo to complete in the Rocket Classic. Set to compete in the team of five are senior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth), junior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), sophomore Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), sophomore Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School), and freshman Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne). Coming to compete as individuals are redshirt junior Brenna Hammond (West Bloomfield, Mich-Detroit Mercy) and freshman Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich-Milford).
