Murphy Tied For Eighth After Opening Round of Bradley Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team began play at the 39th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational Sunday, Oct. 23, on Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club's par-72, 6,288-yard Cypress Lakes Course. As a team, the Eagles carded an opening round 298 and sit in seventh in a field of 14 teams. Senior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) paced the Green and White with a first round 71, finishing one-under par.
Murphy led the Eagles on day one of the three-day invitational, and currently stands tied for eighth, four shots back of Florida's Samantha Wagner for the lead. Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) and Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) carded first round scores of 74 and 75, respectively. Connelly ranks tied for 24th at two-over par, while Beck is one shot back and tied for 28th.
Sophomores Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) and Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) rounded out EMU's scores. Apiwatthanadol finished the day six-over par, 78, and is currently tied for 48th, while Guilleux's opening round 82 ranks tied for 74th in the 81 player field.
Round two of the tournament takes place Monday, Oct. 24.
