CHARDON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – With 36 holes in the books at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championship, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in second place with a 584 (290-284). Miami University leads the way after posting an even-par 576 (287-289) on the par 72, 7,245 yard Mayfield Sand Ridge Club – Sand Ridge course.
The RedHawks hold an eight-stroke lead heading into day two, that total includes holding down four of the tournament's top five slots. EMU is in second place followed by Ball State (585), Toledo (589), Ohio (596), Kent State (597), Bowling Green (602), Northern Illinois (604) and Akron (606).
All five of the five Eagles are ranked in the top 25, included junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) who is in fourth-place with an even-par 144 (73-71). Freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) notched a 145 (71-74) for a three-way tie for fifth. Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) is tied for ninth with a 146 (72-74) and sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for 22nd with a 151 (76-75). Rounding out the EMU lineup, junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) fired rounds of 74 and 78 for 25th-place.
Ball State's McCormick Clouserleads the field with a four-under 140 (70-70).
The third round of the 2015 MAC Men's Golf Championship will get underway at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 2, with the final round scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 8 a.m. For live scoring, visit http://www.golfstat.com.
