Women's Golf Travels South To The River Landing Classic

Eagles will play in tournament for second consecutive year after taking fifth last year

WALLACE, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team travels south to take part in the 2015 River Landing Classic, April 11-12. The 54-hole event will be held at the River Landing Golf Course with 36 holes played Saturday before the final round Sunday. Both days will begin with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
The 12-team field includes UAB, Columbia, Delaware, East Carolina, James Madison, Navy, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Towson, William & Mary and host UNC Wilmington. The River Landing Golf Course will play at 6,082 yards for the par-72 course located in Wallace, N.C.
The tournament, which began in 2001, was won last season by Elon with a three-round total of 907 (297-306-30). UNCW's Lori Beth Adams earned medalist honors with her 217 (74-71-72).
Last season, Sylvie Williams (Christchurch, New Zealand-Christchurch Girls School) and Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) each tied for 11th place in the 50 player field. Williams carded rounds of 76, 78 and 76 to equal her career-low for a 54-hole tournament, while, Murphy's finish was her fourth career top-15 showing after posting marks of 71, 79 and 80 during the weekend. Overall, the Eagles carded a final round team score of 306 to finish the event in fifth place with a three-round total of 925 (306-313-306).
