The Varsity Eight squad brought home the Eagles' second victory in as many weeks

BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team brought back its second victory in as many weeks, winning it third-ever Harvey Cup Saturday, April 18.

In its first dual of the afternoon, the Eagles Varsity Eight squad finished a mere six seconds behind Mercyhurst with a time of 7:2019. The Varsity Four squad saw similar results, finishing second behind the Lakers with a time of 8:15.50.

Following the Mercyhurst dual, the Green and White went up against host, the University at Buffalo, where the Varsity Four squad nabbed a second-place finish, crossing the line in 8:20.27. The Second Varsity Eight team followed up the Varsity Four team, but was unable to keep pace with the Bulls, finishing in a time of 7:45.83 compared to UB's 7:08.51 finish.

Eastern Michigan's Varsity Eight squad came to race for the Nan Harvey Cup in the final race of the day. With the Eagles looking to snap an eight-race losing streak at the regatta and take home their third-ever cup, the V8 squad crossed the line less than a second before Buffalo with a time of 6:52.53.

"This is the type of race that this team is capable of and to get this level of racing two week in a row is the consistency we need to move up in the conference," stated Head Coach Kemp Savage. "I am incredibly excited to get home and get to work."

Eastern will be back in action Saturday, April 25 when it co-hosts the MACRA Regatta at Ford Lake.
