UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – After firing an opening round 285 at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team turned in a 294 to finish the opening day with a cumulative score of 579 in a second-place. The tournament is being hosted by Penn State University at the par-71, 7,183-yard PSU Blue Course.

Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) is one of three Eagles to reside inside the top-10 spots after firing an 141 (68-73) that included a career-low 68 on the opening day for a third-place tie. Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) followed with a 143 (70-73) in a tie for sixth, while freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) is 10th after a 145 (73-72).

Junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) posted a 150 (71-79) and is tied for 25th as sophomore Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) rounded out the scoring with a 160 (78-82) in 67th. Playing as an individual, sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) notched rounds of 81 and 74 for 52nd-place.

Host Penn State sits atop the leader board with a two-round score of four-over 572 (296-276). EMU is in second place after holding the round round lead, followed by Rutgers, Georgetown and Binghamton. Jens Palbert of of Penn State and Same Madesen of Georgetown are tied for the lead with a score of four-under par 138.

Tee times for the final round of play will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday. No live scoring is available for the tournament, but round results will be posted on EMUEagles.com.
