Men's Golf Heads to Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team will play in the Rutherford Intercollegiate this weekend, hosted by Penn State University at the par-71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course. The tournament will begin Saturday, April 18, and goes through Sunday, April 19.

The Eagles will compete against Binghamton, Bowling Green, Canisius, Cleveland State, George Washington, Georgetown, Penn State, Rutgers, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's and Youngstown State.

Eastern Michigan took part in the event last year, as the team finished in sixth-place with a team-total of 881 (294-288-299). Josh Heinze posted the best individual score for the Green and White at 215 (71-71-73) in a tie for sixth-place.

The Penn State Blue Course is a par-71 course and covers 7,202 yards. The renovated Blue Course hosted its first major amateur event in 2009, the Big Ten Men's Golf Championship. With the updates and improvements made in 2007, the Blue Course now proudly sits with some of the top courses in the Big Ten. The Blue Course has hosted numerous events conducted by the USGA, FCWT, AJGA, IJGT, PGA Junior Series and the West Penn Golf Association.
