Multer Tied for 14th After Day One of NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) is tied for 14th in the individual standings and the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is tied for eighth in the team standings after two rounds of play Saturday, April 11, at the NYX Hoosier Invitational.

Mutler was the lone Eagle to card a round under-par with a career-low 69 in the second round. The Battle Creek, Mich. native finished the day just four strokes behind the leaders with a 142 (73-69). The Eagles finished the day just eight shots out of the top three in the field at the par-71 Indiana University Golf Course.

Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) shot rounds of 75 and 71 for a 28th-place tie with a 146. Sophomore Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) is just one shot back of Blair with a 147 (75-72), while junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) is tied for 49th with a 149 (74-75).

Freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) is tied for 58th overall at 150 (77-73) after shooting a second-round 73. Competing as an individual, John Boncoddo (Brantford, Ontario, Canada-St. John's College) rounded out the scoring at 162 (88th), firing rounds of 82 and 80 Saturday.

Wisconsin shot a five-under 279 in the afternoon and was the top team Saturday, finishing at 565 to edge second-place Toledo by three shots (568). Oakland and Miami (Ohio) are nine shots off the pace in a tie for third at 574 and Cincinnati rounds out the top five at 575.

Bradley and tournament-host Indiana are tied for sixth at 579, five shots out of third and the pair were three shots better than Eastern Michigan and IUPUI, which are tied for eighth at 582. Xavier completes the top 10 at 584.

Eastern Michigan concludes the NYX Hoosier Invitational Sunday, April 12, with a single round beginning at 9 a.m.
