IOWA CITY, Iowa (EMUEagles.com) –
Eastern Michigan University's Alex Chan and Mike Fisher completed day one of the 2015 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships Friday, March 27.
 
Chan, the first ever Eagle diver to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships, placed 28th overall notching 350.30 points in the preliminary round of the 3-meter dive. The sophomore diver was the highest-placing Mid-American Conference representative in the event and closes out the 2014-15 campaign as the conference champion in the 3-meter dive.
 
Fisher, competing in his first of two events, touched in at 54.13 in the 100 breast for the Green and White with a split time of 28.60. Fisher is the first swimmer to appear on the national stage since Jacob Hanson competed in the 100 and 200 back as well as the 200 IM at the 2013 NCAA Division I Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., garnering First Team All-American honors after taking fourth in the 200 back in an EMU and Mid-American Conference record time of 1:39.87.
 
Fisher will swim in the 200 breast on Saturday, March 28, with the prelims at 11 a.m. and the finals at 7 p.m.  Live video streaming and results can be found on the University of Iowa Championship Central at hawkeyesports.com, and ESPN3 will also be streaming the finals sessions on Friday and Saturday.
