Men's Golf Wraps Up Play at Talis Park Challenge

NAPLES, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team completed play in the Talis Park Challenge with a ninth-place finish after shooting 293 in the final round at the par 71, 6,893-yard Talis Park Golf Club Course. EMU finished with a 54-hole total of 872 (286-276-276) as No. 14 Louisiana State University took home the tournament title with an 838 (286-276-276).

Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) had a solid conclusion to the tournament with a one-under par final round of 70. He finished in 19th-place in the field with a 214 (74-70-70) after carding five birdies and four bogeys in his final round, on a warm Monday, March 16. His one-over par 214 was eight strokes better than his average tournament for his season. The top-20 showing was the second of the season for the Ancaster, Ontario native.

Junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) ended in a tie for 31st after shooting a 218 (69-74-75). Freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) shot a 72 on Monday to take home 40th-place. Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) and sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) rounded out the lineup with a 225 (73-76-76) and a 226 (76-71-79), respectively.

Chris Selfridge of Toledo took home individual medalist honors at six-under 207 (73-67-67) for the event.

Eastern Michigan will return to action as a team, March 27-29, at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite in Lake Worth Fla.
