Women's Golf Tied for Fifth Heading Into Final Day of Rio Verde Invite

RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team moved up into a tie for fifth-place on day two of the 13th Annual Rio Verde Invitational, carding a 604 (303-301) on the par 71, 6,215-yard Quail Run Course at the Rio Verde Country Club Saturday, March 14.

Freshman Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) led the Green and White through the second round in a tie for fourth overall and a day two total of 147 (72-75).

Redshirt-junior Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) led all EMU golfers on the day, shooting a 72 to tie for 16th overall at 150 (78-72), while senior Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) fired a second round score of 73 and sits at a tie for 49th with a 155 (82-73).

Sophomore Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is fourth for the Eagles and tied for 64th overall with a 157 (75-82) and freshman Kylie Raines (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman) rounds out the lineup in 77th with a 159 (78\-81).

Seton Hall took over the lead on day two of the tournament, carding a team total 594 (296-298) as Erin McClure leads all golfers with a 144 (71-73). Toledo is just two shots behind the Pirates with 596 (301-295).

Eastern will close out the Rio Verde Invitational Sunday, March 15, with tee time scheduled for 8 a.m.
