RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) -- Freshman Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) tied for fourth and helped the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team to a fourth-place finish Sunday, March 15,  at the Rio Verde Invitational on the par 71, 6,215-yard White Wing Course.  Beck, who turned in her second top-five performance of the season, shot a career-low 222 (72-75-75) to equal the best finish of any Mid-American Conference golfer in the tournament .

As a team, the Eagles improved each day on the leader board to climb to fourth with a three-day total of 905 (303-301-301).  EMU's final round tally of 301 was the second-best of any of the 18-teams playing, bettered only by a 294 by Northern Arizona on Sunday. Seton Hall won the tournament with a 896 as Toledo and NAU finished four shots back at 900.

Sophomore Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) followed Beck, posting a 227 (75-82-70) for 19th-place. Junior Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) was third for the Eagles recording a final round 78 giving her a three-round score of 228 (78-72-78). Rounding out the scoring for EMU was Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) and Kylie Raines (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman) who finished tied for 47th and 68th, respectively.

Alison Kruse and Erin McClure of Seton Hall both finished the event at two-over par to tie for medalist honors. Wichita State's Alejandra Arellano moved up nine spots on Sunday to finish alone in third place at five-over par.

EMU travels next to Williamsburg, Va. for the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate, March 30-31.
