Women’s Golf Set for Rio Verde Invitational

Eagles set to compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, March 13-15

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team remains in the Grand Canyon State to participate in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., March 13-15. This year's field will be comprised of 17 teams with four out of five individual scores counting toward the team total each day.
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs from Friday through Sunday on the White Wing Course at Rio Verde Country Club. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
The event features eight Mid-American Conference programs: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan
The field also includes Arkansas Little Rock, Bradley, Illinois State, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Northern Arizona, Seton Hall, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Wichita State and Xavier.
The event was originally known as the East/West Rio Verde Invitational, the annual tournament is in its 13th year of competition. Last season, the Eagles shot a three-round total of 922 (301-315-306) to finish in seventh place behind tournament champion Xavier.
Freshman Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) will lead the lineup for the Eagles, followed by sophomore Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth). In the No. 3 and 4 spots will be Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) and Kylie Raines (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman), while Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) will round out the lineup set to start on Friday, March 13.
