Women's Golf Sits in Sixth Place Following Round One

The Eagles posted a total score of 303 on the first day of competition
RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Behind an opening round even par, 72, from freshman Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team sits tied for sixth place after the first day of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, March 13. Beck is currently tied for second place. The Eagles recorded a total score of 303 and Seton Hall University sits atop the leaderboard after an opening round 296.
Sophomore Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) shot a three-over 75 in the first round and is tied for 21st. Redshirt-junior Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) and freshman Kylie Raines (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman) both sit in a tie for 48th after shooting six-over 78 in the opening round.
Rounding out the lineup for the Green and White, redshirt-senior Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) sits in a tie for 82th with an 82.
The Eagles are back on the White Wing Course at Rio Verde Country Club tomorrow, March 13, for the second round of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational.
