—Eastern Michigan University's men's swimming team competed in six events during the first day of the OSU Winter Invite, Feb. 14, with nearly every member of the Green and White posting career marks in their respective events.

The Eagles had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 back and 100 breast.  In the 100 back, Nate Schingoethe (Itasca, Ill.-Lake Park) matched his personal record of 50.92 seconds to finish second, pacing Craig Wasberg (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford)'s third-place finish in 53.24 seconds.  Wasberg notched a career best earlier in the day, finishing in 51.94 seconds in the prelims.  Connor Fotsch (Winnetka, Ill.-New Trier) was the top finisher for the Eagles in the 100 fly, swimming the only sub-50-second mark for the Green and White in 49.74 seconds while Kevin Moore (Anthem, Ariz.-Boulder Creek) notched a personal best of 50.23 seconds for third place.

Fotsch also paced the Eagles in the 100 free, placing seventh in 46.10 seconds in the championship final.  Kristian Berning (Kettering, Ohio-Kettering Fairmont) had the faster mark, clocking a 46.07 to take runner-up in the consolation final.  Berning was the top finisher for the Eagles in the 500 free, taking fourth in 4:33.42 in his collegiate debut of the event, and was trailed by Rodolfo Flores (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-Brother Rice) for sixth in 4:43.79.

Another third-place finish came from Ethan McNally (Loveland, Colo.-Loveland) in the 400 IM.  McNally dipped below the four-minute barrier for the first time in his collegiate career, touching in at 3:59.12.

Making his way into the EMU record books was Bryan Hahn (Topeka, Kan.-Washburn Rural) in the 100 breast.  The freshman placed sixth in 56.10 seconds, which is good for eighth on the Eagles' all-time list.

Eastern will return to the water tomorrow, Feb. 15, with preliminary rounds beginning at 11 a.m.  The finals will follow at 4 p.m., and live results can be found through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
