HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will enter the final round of the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club in seventh place following another team score of 304 on Monday. The score leaves the Eagles with a two-round total of 608, just eight shots out of fourth place.
Sophomore Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) is alone in fifth place with a two-day tally of 144 (71-73). After opening the event with a one-under 71, Beck carded a 73 in round two. She will start the final round eight strokes back of Central Arkansas' Emma Svensson, who fired a five-under 67 on Monday, Nov. 2, to move to eight-under par for the tournament.
Central Arkansas leads the field of 15 teams with a combined score of 587. The Sugar Bears sit 10 strokes in front of second-place Oral Roberts (597). Houston Baptist is alone in third place (598), followed closely by Missouri State (600) and Little Rock (602).
Junior Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) shaved nine shots off her opening round score to move up to a tie for 20th with a 151 (80-71). Freshman Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) and redshirt senior Lauren Stephens (Dublin, Ohio-Coffman-Toledo) are tied for 46th place at 157. Redshirt senior Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) turned in a score 80 on Monday to sit in a tie for 59th with a 159 (79-80).
The third and final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
