Men's Golf to Compete at Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team continues its 2015 fall schedule with the Firestone Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at the Firestone Country Club-North Course.
The 16-team tournament includes: Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Georgetown, Illinois State, Maryland, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina-Aiken, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Xavier.
The course will be set up as a par 72, playing a distance of 7,125 yards. It will consist of 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 5, and 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 6. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on both days, with the second round played immediately following the conclusion of the first round on Monday.
Eastern competed in the event last year with Michael Blair recording his first top-10 showing with a career-low 217 (74-73-70). After a sluggish start, EMU roared back in the final round with a scorching round of seven-under 281. The Eagles used four rounds of par-or-better to climb the leaderboard to finish in third-place with a 54-hole tally of 878 (302-295-281). The University of South Carolina-Aiken took home the tournament title with a 876 (289-293-294) followed closely by Xavier University (877) and EMU.
