The Green and White will host their final regular season race before the MAC Championship

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team is set to close out the regular season by hosting the annual EMU Fall Classic, Friday, Oct. 23, at Hudson Mills Metro Park. This event marks the last event before the Mid-American Conference Championship, which is just around the corner and will take place Saturday, Oct. 31, in Akron, Ohio.

Last weekend, the Eagles participated in the Pre-Nationals Invitational, Oct. 17, in Louisville, Ky. The talented field of runners included three top-10 teams, as well as eleven top-30 teams. EMU, led by junior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich. - Mason) and senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio - Maumee), finished 15th at the event, beating No. 30 Texas in the process. Raymond finished the race in 49th with a time of 23:56.0 while Fink was only three seconds behind, as he crossed the finish line in 23:59.0 and placed 52nd. Sophomore Csaba Matko (Racalmas, Hungary - Szechenyi Istvan Gimnazium) turned in his best race as an Eagle, finishing 110th in 24:21.8, while redshirt sophomore Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland - Mountain Ridge) and sophomore Lahsene Bouchikhi (Antwerp, Belgium - Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt Luchthaven) finished within the top-150 as well.

Head Coach John Goodridge has always enjoyed the event, as a multitude of talented athletes regularly participate. When describing this weekend's race, he stated "The annual EMU Cross Country Classic has always been a well received late season opportunity for athletes for a variety of competitive and training reasons. Over the years the event has even included Olympians, National and Conference Champions."

The race will be a 5,000-meter course, with the men set to begin at 4 p.m. while the women will start at 4:30 p.m.
