ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in a tie for third place at the Wolverine Intercollegiate after firing a two-round score of 575 (285-290) at the U-M Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 6.
Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson) and sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) paced the Eagles on day one as both sit in a tie for 11th, shooting matching 143s. Blair sat at one under par in the first round, firing a 70 and carded a 73 in round two, while Rodes posted a 71 in the first round and a 72 in round two.
Sophomore Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) is just one shot behind the duo, carding a 144 with matching 72s in both of the opening rounds to tie for 20th overall, while junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) closed out the day with a 145 (72-73) and is tied for 24th overall.
Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids CC) rounded out the scoring for the Green and White in his first match for EMU, shooting a 146 with matching 73s and tying for 29th overall.
Individually, freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) is tied for sixth overall, carding a 142 (74-68) in his first collegiate tournament.
The University of Michigan sits atop the leader board, shooting 10 under par with a 558 (278-280), while Wisconsin is in second, 16 strokes behind the Wolverines, with a two-round score of 574 (288-286). Eastern Michigan and Kansas are just one stroke behind the Badgers, carding a 575, seven over par, after two rounds.
The Eagles will tee off for the final round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8:45 a.m.
