YORKTOWN, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) —
The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will compete in its second tournament as it travels to Yorktown, Ind. to participate in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University.

The 36-hole tournament will be played at The Players Club, a par-72, 6,164-yard course. There will be 18 holes played on both Monday, Sept. 22, and Tuesday, Sept. 23, with action beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. each day.

A 16-team field awaits Head Coach Sandy Wagner and her Eagles golf team. Along with the host Ball State, the other teams EMU will go up against are Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dayton, Grand Valley, IPFW, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Rend Lake, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Western Michigan.

The Cardinal Classic returns after a one-year hiatus. Ball State hosted the event each year from the 2001-02 season through the 2012-13 campaign with The Players Club serving as host of the tournament every year but one.

BSU won the last time the tournament was held in the fall of 2012 while Marshall's Korakot Simsiriwong was the individual medalist, defeating the Cardinals' Jenna Hague in a playoff.

Western Michigan has won the tournament four times, while Ball State and Eastern Michigan (2002, 2006 and 2009) have each won it three times. Butler and Southern Illinois own one title apiece.
