Senior Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) managed a 145 (69-76) for 12th and sophomore Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) carded a 147 (71-76) for 18th-place. Rounding out the lineup, freshman Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for 25th after rounds of 76 and 74 while freshman Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) is tied for 33rd after an opening-day total of 153 (74-79).

EMU was tied with Akron for the top-spot on the leaderboard with an opening round 284. The Green and White fired 15 birdies along with picking up an eagle by White on the par-five No. 3. The opening round score of four-under was the lowest the squad has recorded this season and the best since a first round mark of five-under 275 at the Windon Memorial, Oct. 16, 2011.
However, in the second round EMU struggled with constancy as the scoring conditions proved much tougher.
