Men's Golf Heads to Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team will play in the Rutherford Intercollegiate this weekend, hosted by Penn State University at the par -71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course in State College, Pa. The tournament will begin Saturday, April 19, and goes through Sunday, April 20.
The Eagles will compete against Army, Binghamton, Bowling Green, Connecticut, La Salle, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Wright State, Xavier and Youngstown State.
Eastern Michigan last took part in the event during the 2011-12 campaign when the team finished in sixth-place with a team-total of 921 (313-308-300). Derek East posted the best individual score for the Green and White at 226 (77-73-76) in a tie for seventh-place.
The Penn State Blue Course is a par-71 course and covers 7,202 yards. The renovated Blue Course hosted its first major amateur event in 2009, the Big Ten Men's Golf Championship. With the updates and improvements made in 2007, the Blue Course now proudly sits with some of the top courses in the Big Ten. The Blue Course has hosted numerous events conducted by the USGA, FCWT, AJGA, IJGT, PGA Junior Series and the West Penn Golf Association.
