HOT SPRING, Ark (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team completed day one of the two-day 54-hole University of Arkansas Little Rock Women's Golf Classic on the Diamante Country Club's 6,076-yard, par-72 layout Monday, March 24.
The Eagles currently sit in 13th overall in the 17-team field with a team total of 640 (326-314) through the first two rounds. Wichita State and Middle Tennessee are tied for first after day one with 617, while Georgia State is just one stroke behind the leaders with a 618.
After two rounds of action Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) leads all EMU women's golfers with a 155 (77-78) and is tied for 15th overall, while Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) is tied for 41st overall, shooting five strokes behind Ping with a 160 (84-76).
Sylvie Williams (Christchurch, New Zealand / Christchurch Girls School) came in third for the Green and White on the conclusion of day one, carding a 163 (83-79) and Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) finished closely behind, shooting matching 82s for a 164 total. Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) rounded out the Eagle scoring with a 167 (86-81), tying for 71st overall.
The final round of play is set to continue Tuesday, March 25, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
