HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's golf team wrapped up the two-day 54-hole University of Arkansas Little Rock Women's Golf Classic Tuesday, March 25. The team finished ninth after completing three rounds on the 6,076-yard par-72 course at Diamante Country Club.
The Eagles posted a team total of 314 in the final round to move up from 13th place, finishing the competition with 954 (326-314-314). Middle Tennessee took the overall team title with 921 (306-311-304), while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Vanessa Johnson claimed the top individual spot after carding a 219 (74-71-74).
Leading the way for the Green and White was Sylvie Williams (Christchurch, New Zealand-Christchurch Girls School), who shot 76 on the day to bring her total to 238 (83-79-76) and end competition in a tie for 31st place. Closely behind Williams were Corey Crossan (London, Ontario-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) and Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario-St. Augustine Secondary School), who finished tied for 34th after carding a 239 through the three rounds. Crossan shot a 79 while Ping carded an 84 in round three.
Ending in a tie for 48th was Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) with 242 after posting a team tournament-best 75 in her final day. Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) rounded out the group with a 251 (82-82-87).
The team will take a short break before heading to Wilmington, N.C. for the UNCW Seahawk Classic, April 5-6.
