WILMINGTON, N.C.-- Playing under ideal conditions that featured sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70's, Eastern Michigan University freshman Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is tied for sixth after two rounds of the UNCW Seahawk Classic at the River Landing Golf Course. As a team, the Eagles are in sixth place with a two-round total of 619 (306-313).
Elon carded the low round of the day with an eight-over-par 297 in the first round and followed that performance with a 306 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 603 and a four-shot lead over second-place Delaware (301-306=607). Defending tournament champion Old Dominion (300-316=616) and host UNCW (313-303=616) are tied for third while EMU sits in fifth (306-313=619).
Bolstered by her second-round score, UNCW senior Lori Beth Adams finished the 36-hole day with a one-over-par total of 145 (74-71) and will carry a one-shot lead over Elon teammates Sunna Vidisdottir (69-77=146) and Kelsey Badmaev (73-73=146) into Sunday's final round. Delaware's Vitoria Teixeira (76-73=149) and Radford's Alexandra Austin (71-78=149) are five shots back of Adams in a tie for fourth.
The final round of the UNCW Seahawk Classic begins Sunday with a shotgun start slated for 8:45 a.m.
