Eagles will play in tournament for seventh straight year

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will travel south to compete in the University of Arkansas Little Rock Women's Golf Classic in Hot Springs, Ark., March 24-25. This will be the seventh consecutive year that the Eagles have played in the tournament.

The two-day, 54-hole event will be played on Diamante Country Club's 6,076-yard, par-72 layout and will begin with a shotgun start on Monday at 8:30 a.m.  The final 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

In addition to UALR and EMU, this year's 17-team field includes Arkansas State, Ball State, UCA, Georgia State, High Point, Middle Tennessee, UMKC, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTEP and Wichita State.

The Eagles were unable to complete last year's tournament after two players had to withdraw from competition after the opening round due to illness.  Sam Houston State captured top honors in 2013, combining for a team score of 937 – the highest winning team score in the history of the event – in cold-weather conditions. Georgia Mundy of North Texas took the top spot among individuals with a three-round total of six-over 222.
