PEORIA, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will look to take a step forward in its second tournament of the spring season as the Eagles head to Peoria, Ariz., to participate in the Westbrook Invitational, Feb. 23-24, at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Sunday followed by 18 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT) each day.

This will be the third-consecutive year the Eagles have participated in this tournament. Last season EMU shot a three-round total of 911 and finished in a tie with host Wisconsin for eighth place.

Plenty of alumni in the area will be cheering on the Green and White as the state of Arizona has been a hot-bed for EMU golf over the past few years. While in Peoria, the squad has already met up with Don Sevey, a 1954 graduate of then-Michigan State Normal College. Sevey went on to say that the Eastern Michigan connection runs deep in his family as his mom also graduated from from the school in 1926.

Eastern Michigan will be joined by 13 other teams including Wisconsin, Oregon, Ohio State, Illinois, College of Charleston, Oregon State, Nebraska, Washington State, Iowa, Indiana, Tulsa, Colorado State and Kansas State.

Junior Sylvie Williams (Christchurch, New Zealand-Christchurch Girls School-Lincoln) leads Eastern Michigan's lineup for the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Freshman Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) will play in the No. 2 spot. Senior Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) and redshirt-junior  Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) will compete in the Nos. 3 and 4 spots and rounding out the EMU lineup is redshirt-sophomore Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School).

Live stats of the Westbrook Spring Invitational can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be posted on EMUEagles.com at the conclusion of play on Sunday and Monday.

The Eagles set to also compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, March 7-8, in Rio Verde, Ariz.
