Women’s Golf Treks to Indiana for Match Play Event

The tournament features a day of stroke play followed by two of match play

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) — After a 12-day break from the course, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team returns to action at the Hoosier Fall Invitational, Oct. 17-19, at Purgatory Golf Club. The event opens Friday with one round of stroke play. The eight competing teams will then be seeded into a bracket with three rounds of match play to determine a champion by Sunday.
Indiana is the tournament host and is joined in the field by Ball State, Boston College, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Illinois, Illinois State and Northern Illinois.
Six Eastern Michigan golfers will compete Friday in the stroke-play portion of the tournament. The Eagles' five-member lineup for the match play will include Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), Kylie Raines (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman), Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam), Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) and Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-t. Augustine Secondary School).
The stroke-play round begins Friday at 9 a.m. with a split tee start. Two rounds of match play are slated for Saturday with the final matches to be played Sunday. Every team is guaranteed three matches in either the championship or consolation bracket.
