UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  (EMUEagles.com) —
The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will travel to University Park, Pa. for the 38th Annual Nittany Lion Invitational, Oct. 3-5, at the Penn State Golf Course. The Blue Course will be set at par 72 and 6,328 yards.

The teams will begin play on Friday with a 9 a.m. start. On Saturday, the six-player format will call for tee times beginning at 9 a.m. and then a final round shotgun start on Sunday.

Along with the Eagles, other teams in the tournament field include: Akron, Bucknell, Columbia, Georgetown, Harvard, Marshall Maryland, Old Dominion, Penn State, Princeton, Western Michigan, William & Mary and Yale.

Last year, the Eagles posted a three-day total of 921 (306-305-310) to finish in ninth-place as Mid-American Conference rival Kent State University ran away from the field with a score of 873 (294-288-291). Corey Crossan was the top EMU golfer with a 228 (79-71-78), finishing in tie for 25th-place.

EMU tasted victory at the 2011 Nittany Lion Invitational, as the Green and White won the weather-shortened tournament, Sept. 30-Oct.2. The final round was cancelled due to unplayable conditions on the course.  The Eagles carded a 297 on day two to surge to the front of the 15-team field, posting a team score of 597 (300-297).

Live scoring for the tournament will be available via Birdiefire.com and a full recap with results will be posted following each round on EMUEagles.com.
