Men's Golf Heads to South Bend for Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team travels to South Bend, Ind. this week to take part in the eighth-annual Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic, Sept. 23-24 . This will be the second time the Eagles have traveled to the Fighting Irish Classic in the past three seasons. Eastern Michigan finished in a tie for seventh place two seasons ago. The University of Notre Dame will host the tournament on the  par 71, 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course.

Play will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday with the second round following directly afterward. Tuesday's final round will start at 8:30 a.m.

There will be 13 teams in the field for the 2013 Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic including: College of Charleston, Davidson, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, Houston, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Southern Mississippi, UT-Arlington, West Florida, Xavier and Yale

Back in 2011, Jared Dalga finished with a round of 70 in third place with a two-over par 212 (72-70-70) at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic. As a team, the Eagles recorded a mark of 887 (296-297-294) in a tie for seventh place. Behind Dalga, Brian Churchill-Smith came in 48th with a 228 (74-77-77).
